Feb 16 - Austin City Council Committee for Emerging Technology and Telecommunications meets. Receives briefing from City staff. Unanimously approves motion to bring matter to full City Council for action. [video]

Feb 23 - The Big Gig Austin Initiative is created. The social media campaign begins. Facebook group and Twitter account are created. [see Social Media]

Feb 25 - Austin City Council meets for the first time since the Google announcement. Council unanimously approves a resolution that directs the City Manager to work with the community and file a response to the Google "Fiber for Communities" RFI.

Mar 9 - The www.BigGigAustin.org web site is officially unveiled at a City Hall press conference. [see News and Media and Website]

Mar 10 - The Austin Community Technology and Telecommunications Commission conducts a public forum. The Commission hears from several panels of expert speakers, as well as members of the general community. [see Public Forum]

Mar 12-16 - South by Southwest (SXSW) Interactive Festival. For a long weekend, Austin becomes the center of the digital universe. Thousands of residents and visitors are engaged in the Big Gig effort. Volunteers shoot "person on the street" interviews. [see SXSW]

Mar 23 - The Big Gig "How Can Google Not Love Us?" Happy Hour and Tweetup is held. [see Meetups]
